After much tabloid Doja Cat’s new album Scarlet is out. It’s ah banger, really great work. She has made headlines for cutting off her hair and cutting off her fans. The fact is it was to weed out her real fans from the bandwagon hoppers. She gained an influx of fans due to her commercial friendly album Planet Her. Now, with her latest album, she expresses that she made the money and now she can make the music she her self likes.
The Scarlet album is her freedom cry or maybe her war cry. It seems she has a problem with other women and other female rappers. It’s hard to tell who she is talking about in some of her songs, but her angst is easily heard. It’s dope that she hits her audience with true 90’s style lyrics. Like classic hip hop, she is expressing her beef, but who is the heat directed to? We won’t know because she doesn’t name drop.
There some romance with some of her more pop friendly songs. It seems like she has a special man in her life. She expresses that there is a love in her life in multiple songs. He must be a real hell of a guy for her to sing so enthusiastically about him. I feel like her pop based song has more of a shocking effect. Her love for her man is vulgar and will surprise anyone.
I have been a fan of Doja Cat since her lighthearted song “Imma Cow”. She has always had a certain style about her and her music. Although in the Scarlet album, there aren’t too many feel-good hits. This album is an enjoyable thriller and will tantalize the ears
