I am reading this great book called Atomic Habits. It’s a great read the author does a great job explaining habits and the way to personally grow with your habits.

We all have a routine; something we do on a daily basis. We exercise at certain times. The breakdown of those routines are your habits.

We experience life as a series of habit. Our learned automated actions are our habits. We act and behavior as compounded habits.

When we are cued to a trigger of a desired response; we act.

When something activates our senses that is the cue to the activation of our desires.

There is something that triggers our good habits and bad ones. We experience life with cues, desire, action and finally reward.

If you make your triggers associated with a positive habit then you are all good! Reinforcing good habits with a positive cue and an exceptional reward.

Making good habits triggered by rewarding cues reinforces that said desire and response.

An example is, thinking about smoking, and having an associate with the cue with a desired replacement for smoking. ( I tend to suck on a mint as a replacement for smoking).

When the desire for the reward for the mint is greater than for a cigarette you have started to form a new habit.

Making the reward for a mint greatly satisfying and the taste of a cigarette disgusting starts a new behavior pattern.

That behavior system is made up of your habits. The things we do in our daily lives are made of small habits; Atomic Habits.
