John was a cool guy. He just had a problem with women. He always fell for a pretty face. His girlfriend wasn’t happy with that fact.

He used to live with Victoria. She kicked him out in a fury. It was after she went through his phone and saw that he was texting another woman.
He went to Stacy looking for a place to stay. She denied him.
John was forced out into the street. He had nowhere to and roamed the streets for hours.
As John spent more time on the streets, every time he saw a pretty face, he would shatter. It pained John to watch people pass him by, living their daily lives while he had nowhere to go. No women would give him the time of day.
One day, John was sleeping on the sidewalk and full of despair. An outreach team walked up to him.

They asked him if he wanted to stay in a men’s shelter. Reluctantly John accepted his offer.
The outreach team put John in a van and drove 10 minutes to a local intake shelter. He was scared.
John had never been in a shelter before. He always had some chick he could stay with, avoiding the streets.
When he arrived the air felt heavy, a mix of hopelessness and funk. John was assigned a bed, and told he had to meet his caseworker tomorrow to discuss his situation.
In the morning, John had breakfast for the first time in days. He ate and went back to his bunk to wait for his appointed time to meet his caseworker. The dorm room that he stayed in was big and filled with many men living there.
Just as John was laying down a guy in the bunk next to him said, “Hey, what did you do to get here?”
John explained how women were always his downfall. That his last girlfriend overreacted to his female friend, and kicked him out.
Expecting the guy in the bunk next to chastise him for his infidelity, John was surprised that the guy took his side. He told John how a woman did him wrong and cheated on him.

It never crossed John’s mind that Victoria would cheat on him. And, he never thought to ever cheat on her.
“Stacy seduced me,” John explained. “She came on to me.”
John cried. “I thought she was pretty. I didn’t think harmless flirting would cost me my girl.” He said defending himself.
After hours of hearing his bunk mate bash women worse than he could ever imagine, it was time to meet with his caseworker. John felt like a bum as he shuffled to the caseworker’s office.
He sat down with the worker. John noticed she was a beautiful young woman. Her name was Andrea.

Andrea asked what had happened to John that had caused him to become homeless. John explained his situation.
When John looked at Andrea, he couldn’t help but feel so small in her presence.
She wondered if John being homeless was just a matter of a nasty fight between lovers. She asked if he would consider living with Victoria again. He affirmed that he would.
Just as he felt a glimpse of hope, Andrea the caseworker said that the intake was done. Before he left her office, she had to give him a list of appointments to make. John left Andrea’s office with a mixed feeling of inspiration and defeat.
John looked over the paperwork his new caseworker handed to him as he walked back to the dorms. One of his appointments was for homeless benefits.
Another was for job placement, and the last appointment was for securing some clothing. He knew he might have a chance of winning Victoria back if he cleaned up.
John made all of his appointments with a sense of purpose. He got homeless benefits and used most of his stipend on food. He put on some weight, and soon, John was looking healthier than when he first was with Victoria.

John found some decent clothes from the donation box. He hadn’t dressed this good in a long time. He was looking and feeling good about himself. He couldn’t help but think if Victoria could see him now.
However, John was feeling nervous about getting a job. He had never really worked before. Victoria and his family took care of him.
John thought all he had to do was interview with someone and wait for a callback. To his surprise, he was given a slip and told to report to work in a few days.
John was fed, fresh, and employed. He couldn’t wait to see his caseworker.
He walked to Andrea’s door and knocked a gentlemen’s knock. Andrea opened the door and was surprised to see how far John had progressed.

Andrea told John that he was a model case. She felt that he just needed to be pointed in the right direction, and since that point, he took off. The caseworker told John, maybe he should give his girlfriend a call.
John called Victoria from Andrea’s cellphone. He was a little nervous and excited when she picked up, and a familiar voice answered.
Victoria was surprised. It was the first time she had talked to John since the night she kicked him out. She told John that she didn’t expect him to become street homeless. Victoria thought he would have stayed with his mother.
To Victoria’s surprise, John said he had to get his act together. He needed a swift kick in the ass to get him right. Now, he had a job and wanted to do right by her, and only her.
With that news, Victoria agreed to let John come back home. It was so close to the holidays and she felt bad to know he was homeless.

Victoria let John know that she would let him live with her again. All was forgiven.
John did it. He earned his way back into Victoria’s home and heart. He would be home for the holidays with his soon to be baby mamma.
