Whether you are young or old, big or small, Christmas is worth celebrating. It’s a festive time for friends and family to come together. No matter if your celebration of the holiday is religious or social, Christmastime is a remarkable time of the year.

Christmas is no the only prominent holiday in December. Many holidays are celebrated around the Winter Solstice. I can’t really name all of them, so I will just refer to all of them as “the holidays.” Christmas Day stands out the most because many believe that this was when Jesus Christ was born. If you don’t know who Jesus is…Jesus Christ is a big deal and proof of his birth and existence is historical fact.

Jesus was a great man. He was even said by some to be “the prefect man.” Also, Jesus was believed to remain free from sin during his whole life and he did many good deeds. Jesus was celebrated for curing the sick, feeding the hungry, healing the wounded, and even walking on water. He gave his life to stand up for what was right and just. Jesus even stood up to the Pharisees of his time.

For all of Jesus’s good acts and selfless life– for over 2,000 years, people have been celebrating his birthday. All around the world, people from all walks of life come together in huddled masses to celebrate all that is good and holy in the world. And the birth and life of Jesus Christ.

And guess what? You don’t necessarily have to believe in Jesus Christ to appreciate Christmas. Any and everybody can come together around Christmastime to be in a sense, Christ-like.

We might not have holy hands that can make a miracle happen, but we can give a gift or two. Giving a heartfelt gift can make all the difference in a person’s life. Like getting that film student a MacBook, so they can edit their first movie. Or for a factory worker that always had the most difficult time getting to work, receiving a new car. With a life changing gift, one can do more for others and themselves.

Sometimes what people need to know most, is is that there is someone who truly cares about them. The holiday season is the time when almost everybody makes the effort to say to someone, “Hey, I love you. Merry Christmas.”

So please, this year when Christmas comes around… Please remember those special people who made this year bright. Reach out to and think about your family, friends, co-workers, and even everyday Joe Smoe’s that made a significant difference in your life.

Christmastime is the best time of year. Just look inside of yourself and recognize how your are blessed. Remember to count your blessings and realize you didn’t do it alone.

This is also a perfect time to give back to everybody who gave to you. Because it is a joyous time of year, why not be that person who makes the holidays bright. It’s OK to celebrate Christmas and share the gift of giving. No matter how small or great. It’s magical.
