The work week is done and tgif is over. You wake up and glory be, it’s Saturday. The air is fresh and most people are still sleeping. Saturday is the first day of the weekend and by gosh is it great. Nothing to do, nowhere to go, you can stay in bed all morning and chill because it’s the weekend.

It’s a great feeling not worrying about oversleeping or having to get out to handle business. Over the weekend so many businesses are closed and people are home relaxing. Saturdays are great days to relax and just enjoy the fruits of your labor.

On Saturdays, there is no room for drama or stress. It can be a little boring. I remember when I was a kid all that was on television was golf most Saturdays. Don’t get it twisted there is a lot of fun to be had on a Saturday afternoon. You won’t have too much fun staying inside though. Most of the fun to be had is waiting for you outside your home.

There is a lot to do, that is if you feel like doing it. Truth be told some Saturdays I kinda just want to stay in bed. Some of my best memories were made over the weekend. From going to spend some time at the park or going to an event. I used to have so many fun times during the weekend. I would go out in my fliest clothes and enjoy the day, cause it only comes around once a week.

Saturday is my day, I stole it from Bernie Mac. The late great Bernie Mac had an episode on his hit TV show “The Bernie Mac Show” where he called Saturday’s Bernie’s Day, I took his idea and made it “Dad’s Day.” Saturdays are days where I feel like (because I am a Dad) I can do what I like. Even deeming Saturday as “Ignorant Saturdays” where I could drink, smoke, and listen to the worst of the worst trap and rap music I could handle. Oh! how I had such a good time on those Ignorant Saturdays.

Saturdays are the best. You can literally live life like it is a movie on Saturday. I would wake up on a Saturday morning to a blunt and a bottle. Smoke dat and drink dat then go to the store where I would see my homies from the block. Chop it up with them get some to eat and go back inside. Then, somebody where show up for a tattoo, I would sling some ink. After that, I would drink and smoke some more before I went to a club.

That’s the old Saturdays, Now I wake up when I want and have some coffee and a smoke. Spend some time with wife and kid. Take them shopping and have lunch. By the time it gets late, I am ready to hang out with the bro and enjoy some fine marijuana and some premium liquor while talking about the glory days of our youth. Either way in my youth or in my prime Saturdays are awesome days to enjoy.

Oh,! Saturday’s form childhood to adulthood how you make life awesome. If someone were to ask me what is the meaning of life, I would tell them it can be found during the weekend. Because you haven’t lived until you had one of those awesome Saturdays. You know those Saturdays where it’s a non-stop joy ride ride from dusk till dawn. Those Saturday where the next day you wonder how your still alive. Those are the Saturday that make life worth living.
